Recognition from the General Public 5rd Edition of the “Mano Amiga” Awards
Mano Amiga Award in the category of individual recognition from the general public which recognizes the work done anonymously by people and groups in favor of those affected: to H.M. Queen Sofia, for their efforts and personal dedication, for decades, to the fight against Alzheimer's. This support set up in the creation of the Queen Sofia Foundation, which has been the initial effort of the Alzheimer Center, a social and health project in which Alzheimer's disease is approached from three different angles: research, education and welfare service. The award aims to reward the continuous work of H.M. Queen Sofia with the associations, their presence in all situations where it is required, as well as support and closeness beyond its institutional agenda.

Mano Amiga Award in the institutional category, which recognizes the work of public and private institutions, falls this year in the European Working Group of people with dementia - EWGPWD - Alzheimer Europe. The reason, for its contribution to ensure that the activities, projects and meetings of Alzheimer Europe duly reflect the priorities and views of people with dementia and their efforts for a new image of dementia in society and for people who want to lead an active and independent life under the conditions of dementia. The work of EWGPWD is an example for all the people affected by Alzheimer disease, their families, caregivers and whole society, helping to raise awareness and increasing knowledge about the disease. The award was received by Helen Rochford, vice-chairperson of the EWGPWD and Ana Diaz, representative of Alzheimer Europe.

In recognition of his renowned contribution to a better understanding of Alzheimer’s Disease through research into the function of microtubular proteins found in neurons.
